"What did Jesus say?"

4 minute read

"Haven’t you read,” Jesus replied, “that at the beginning God ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.” Matthew 19:4-6

What did Jesus say about gender, marriage, and sex?

Many people believe that Jesus never commented on these subjects. In the birth of this product and brand, we believe the Lord wants to reveal his grace & truth, and he’s chosen this topic to begin with.

What did Jesus say about gender?

"From the beginning God made them male and female."

God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ not only predate creation, but as the creator, he has the right to define and identify his creation. (Genesis 1, Colossians 1:15-17, John 8:56-58) Just as a mother and father have the right to name their child at birth, so God has the right to identify, define, and assign gender roles in our world and society.

There are many viewpoints and personal beliefs one can hold on this topic, but if someone desires to live a life pleasing to God, we must remember: "If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it."

Luke 9:23-24

In order to live a life that will honor the Lord, we must be willing to lay down our own ways, opinions, and beliefs. Not only about ourselves, but about others, about God, and the world around us and focus on what Jesus says.

What did Jesus say about sex?

"This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife."

Most of the world sees sex as a transaction or just a form of fulfillment. Sex was always supposed to be a gift from God and he designed it for us (Genesis 2:22-24, Proverbs 5:18). However, sex is considered holy and sacred, not something to be taken lightly. For this "joining" together isn't a mere temporary joining, but an emotional and spiritual oneness that carries weight and responsibility in the sight of God. "Don't you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself..." 1 Corinthians 6:19

There also needs to be an exclusivity within a marriage covenant, hence the man “leaves his father and mother”. “Drink water from your own well—share your love only with your wife. Why spill the water of your springs in the streets, having sex with just anyone? You should reserve it for yourselves. Never share it with strangers.” Proverbs 5:15-17

What did Jesus say about marriage?

"Since they are no longer two but one, let no one split apart what God has joined together."

Our society boils down marriage to a mere contract that can be broken. And though divorce has become more and more common in our world, it was never God's intention. (Malachi 2:16)

In this same chapter, Jesus continued to say "... Whoever divorces his wife and marries someone else commits adultery - unless his wife has been unfaithful... Not everyone can accept this statement, only those whom God helps." Though God has a high standard for marriages, his heart is to see faithfulness and to heal broken relationships & families. If you experienced divorce, willingly or unwillingly, “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” He desires to see unity and love in the household and the Lord wants to heal your broken relationships and to restore your heart.

“Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony... Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives... And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus...”

Colossians 3:14-17
